JET News:

Weather update...again - May 3
11:00am - Cool and dry with nothing on the radar.  Still looking like a good race day.

9:15am - The radar is showing the green here, and while we are under dark skies and wind, it's dry.  Looks like a clear day after this.

7:30am - Looks like the forecaster's did it too us again.  We've had some rain predicted for today, but it's looking great now.  Sunny skies shining!  Looks like there is some green on the radar, but it isn't much and should be gone before Drivers Meeting.

Route 66 Race - Apr. 26-27
We are happy to host the Route 66 Series 'new' opening event, and would like to extend a 'welcome deal' for those that would like to get extra practice.  If you come to practice from 10am-dark on Friday, you can purchase your practice pass, event pit pass, and pit space all for $70.  Crew pit passes are available Friday for $30.  As published in Route 66 flyers, a two day pit pass for the event is $25, and a reserved 15'x40' pit space is also $25.  Practice is available any Monday through Friday from 10am - dark, and Sunday 12-5 for $30, and $12 for crew.

Rotax 'Road to the Grands' dates-
Qualifying for the Rotax Grand Nationals is done by racing in a local series, typically a six race series in the early part of the season before the Grand Nationals in September.  We have picked six of our Points Races to use as our 'Road to the Grands'.  As a bonus to you in our inaugural Rotax season, all drivers that race in three of the qualifying dates will be eligble to race the Grands.  See the schedule at the Event Calendar.

New classes for 2008
This summer, HPV Jr. Sportsman and TAG Masters will be classes offered every week.  We have racers that are pre-entered for the year, guaranteeing that there will be enough karts to make a class.  TAG Senior is still expected to have the largest grids and most competition of the TAG classes. The addition of Masters will allow the older or heavier driver to have a more competitive spot to race.

HPV Jr. Sportsman is an 8-12 year old class, using WKA rules.  TAG Masters runs TAGUSA rules for engine tech and weight, with drivers age being the one difference.  At CHMS, Masters drivers must be 35+, or 30+ and weigh 200 lbs. or more.

New Garages
Our new garage building is coming along.  These spaces will bigger than the current 'large' units, and there will be many more amenities, making this the luxury spot to be.  Garages will have electric door openers with keypad, so forgotten keys a thing of the past.  All will be painted inside, and benches, shelving units, and tire racks will be provided.  If you are interested in a spot, give us a call to be put on the list.

Free Entry Credit-
Again this season we'll be offering the 'Free Entry Credit', rewarding regular customers with free entry to our Points Races.  Pick up one of these cards from us, and we'll sign it when you make purchases of fuel, oil, and tires.  Fill up the card with 10 signatures, and you can redeem the card at registration for your entry!  A set of tires is worth 4 signatures, and a can of fuel and two bottles of oil is worth one.

Rotax structure, rules, etc...
Judging by the phone calls we've been fielding, there is both interest and confusion over the Rotax program.  Detailed rules and structure are on the Rotax site, but let me explain the basics...

The Rotax program as it applies to us in Norway has three areas of interest: Engine, Race program, and Authorized Service Center.  Let's take a look at each individually, although all are available on the property.

The base of the Rotax program is the FR125 engine.  Sporting electric start, 125cc, and water cooling, it is a "TAG" engine designed for easy use and long life.  The FR125 is legal in the TAGUSA classes (TAG Sr. or Masters at CHMS), or you have the option of competing in the 'Rotax' classes that specify only Rotax engines.  An integrated rev limiter keeps longevity of the package up, with 50 hour usage not uncommon.  The Rotax 'DD2' is a higher hp engine with integral two speed transmission that competes in it's own class.

The Rotax 'classes' are run with only Rotax engines, as opposed to the many engine makes that compete together in TAG.  Racers have class choices based on age with MicroMax starting at 7, through MiniMax, Junior, International (Sr.), and Masters.  DD2 is a 15+ age group only.  All Rotax engines come sealed from the factory, and this seal must be intact to compete in Rotax races.  Only Authorized Service Centers are allowed to reseal an engine, and are held accountable for that engines legality through the program.  This means that on the grid you will know that you will have the same engine, built to the exact same specs, as the guy that is beside you.  Many racers find this comforting, and is a strong motivation to join the Rotax community.

As part of the Rotax classes, engines must be sealed.  Authorized Service Centers are the shops that have been certified by Rotax to perform work and re-seal engines.  This involves specific training, as well as integrity to the program.

Hopefully this helps clear the concept up for you.  If you'd like to know more, feel free to drop us an email or call.

FREE T-Shirts!
At Points Races this season, we are giving one t-shirt away in each class that has more than 10 entries, every week.  When you come to drivers meeting, if your class qualifies, we'll do a random drawing for a position.  Whoever finishes in that position in the feature wins the shirt.  Could be first, last, or anywhere in the middle.  If you win, pick it up like a trophy before you leave!

Rotax Authorized Service Center!
JET Karting has just become an Authorized Service Center, allowing us to sell and rebuild Rotax FR125 and DD2 engines.  We are sure that this will be a great opportunity for those racers who prefer the more structured RotaxMax Challenge series, or run a Rotax in TAGUSA competition.  To encourage more racers to jump into the program, JET Karting is offering free '08 race entries in Rotax classes to anyone who purchases a new chassis and Rotax engine package.
